FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

Hello friends --Happy VD!!! I wait all year to be able to say that on this day every year!!  Tee hee! If you've been reading these FUMS Friday Night 6-Packs, you've been following the saga of my family - a daughter that left for college this year, another daughter getting ready to get her driver's license, and my husband the golf pro, who had to have emergency surgery last month while traveling for work.  When he had that surgery, the doctors saw something on his scan before surgery. They saw a mass on his kidney. Yesterday we got confirmation of what was suspected: my husband has Renal Cancer. #FURC.We are in a good place with it. We like our doctor and we just feel so damned lucky that it was found accidentally and early. In fact, we had a party at our house last night - pizza and beer - with some of our closest friends AND we went and picked up said college daughter - to celebrate our incredible luck. Weird - I know - but that's us. Well, that's me. But then again - I'm the one that started #FUMS so - it can't come as that much of a surprise. I'm walking in a bit of a fog right now - but I'm trying to keep everything as "normal" as possible. And in that spirit - here is this week's FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack:1.  People with MS who self-identify black African or Latin American have a higher number of disease-associated antibody-secreting cells in their blood compared to those who identify as Caucasian, a U.S. study reports. This difference may account for disparities related to ethnicity in MS prognosis, and may point to distinct underlying mechanisms linked to MS progression. Shit End of This Stick Too2.  Remember the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS? Rob Roberts is trying to do the same thing for MS. Check out the video here to learn more about Rob's motivation (his wife has MS) and how you can help make #PushUp4MS go viral: Hold It, Hold It, Hold It . . . 3.  This is going to be very interesting to those women in this community of child-bearing years: Rituximab is barely detected in breast milk of women with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) who took the therapy while breastfeeding their child, small study shows.  Results suggest that women with RRMS can continue with a disease-modifying treatment while breastfeeding.  Breastfeeding Women Can Remain on MS Therapy4.  Most young adults do not understand the advertised levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in edibles, a new study finds, but the researchers have come up with a better way of communicating this information on labels.  Cannabis edibles: Labels should convey THC levels more accurately5.  For many people, the concept of self-love might conjure images of tree-hugging hippies or cheesy self-help books. But, as many psychology studies attest, self-love and -compassion are key for mental health and well-being, keeping depression and anxiety at bay. This article takes a look at some of the things that you can do to nurture this core feeling. In honor of VD (slipped it in again!): The Importance of Self-Love6.  Do you have urological dysfunction? It's quite common in MS. A surgical technique known as non-continent urinary diversion is an effective last-resort solution for treating urological dysfunction in people with MS, a new study shows.  Read more here: Urinary Diversion Surgery**Did you know that I co-wrote a downloadable ebook with a Pelvic Floor Health Physical Therapist? Yep. I did.
