The FUMS 6-Pack 🍺🍻🍺🍻

Hey friend --We're midway through January already! Whoa! How are these ridiculously cold temperatures treating you? Heat and humidity piss my MS off - but it's not enjoying this cold snap either! I'm dealing with a lot of spasticity and stiffness. How about you? Got any tips and tricks to share? Hit "reply" to this email and let me know. I genuinely want to know - and if you have helpful info, I'll share it in the next 6-Pack. 😉 🍻 Let's take a peek inside the world of MS, shall we??1. Soooo - did you see actress Christina Applegate, the patron saint of MS, at the Emmy's the other night??  She looked BEAUTIFUL and her sharp wit was on point. Part of her magical ensemble was her NEO Walk cane with an FUMS tag and an engraved FUMS at the top of the cane! When she first stepped out adorned with FUMS regalia (fingernails and cane), my phone blew up. People wanted to know if she got that stuff from me.  Nope. That wasn't from me. However - I met with Lyndsay Watterson, Founder of NEO Walk, the company that produced both Christina and Selma Blair's canes.  We are looking to partner in the future.  I can't wait. Spreading the FUMS mantra has been my mission since 2011 when I started my FUMS website, followed in 2015 by the FUMS Podcast Show. I'm excited to welcome others into the FUMS fold in an effort to spread the word, "speak to this stupid disease as it deserves: tell it F-U-M-S everyday!"  Here's hoping that Christina and Selma will agree to join me on the FUMS Podcast Show. I'm keeping everything crossed. 🤞🏻  Meantime - if you'd like to rep the FUMS attitude - check out one of the new products:Want one for yourself? We're talking therapies targeting demyelination and neuroinflammation. Can I get a "hell yeah"??  New Treatments3.  In more good treatment news, Mitochon Pharmaceuticals is launching a pilot clinical trial to evaluate MP101, its treatment candidate for improving mitochondrial function, in people with MS and other neurodegenerative diseases. I always tell the newly diagnosed that they've picked a good time to get MS! So much research going on. So much hope.  EU agency OKs study of therapy to improve mitochondrial function4.  Now this is some cool sci-fi-feeling shit: The secrets of our ancestors might hold the key to why MS ismore common among white, northern Europeans than among Europe's more southern populations. Ancient DNA Helps Solve Multiple Sclerosis Mystery in Europe5.  Where are my Ocrevus peeps?? Good news for you:  Real World Study Finds Ocrevus, Helps Highly Disabled People with MS6.  New research from Oregon Health & Science University for the first time reveals the function of a little-understood junction between cells in the brain that could have important treatment implications for conditions ranging from multiple sclerosis to Alzheimer's disease, to a type of brain cancer known as glioma.  Study reveals function of little-understood synapse in the brain7.  Yeah I know - this is the 6-pack - what's up with this number 7 showing up??  I just wanted to share that I've been posting a lot over on TikTok and I wanted to invite you over there for more interaction with me and to hear about my personal MS experiences. Like for instance, today I woke up without pain. WITHOUT PAIN. I don't understand it - it's lasted several hours so far - and I hope it never ends. But I jumped on TikTok to share the good news this morning.  That's the kind of thing you can expect over there.  Here's where to find me: FUMS on TikTokThat's all folks. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you in any way.
