FUMS 6-Pack 🍻🍻🍻

Hello friends --Happy New Year!! I'm glad to put 2022 behind me - how about YOU?? My oldest - Maggie Mae - was home for the holidays and went back to her apartment and big girl life in the big city! My youngest - Reagan - is still home with me. Why do colleges give these kids an entire month off? It certainly isn't preparing them for "real life." It's quite the shock when they first realize post-college that they work right through summer and the holidays aren't PTO!! 🤪So - let's get to the good stuff- shall we??1. I am interviewing Dr. Richard Burt, a Fulbright Scholar, Professor of Medicine at Scripps Health Care, tenured retired Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University, and CEO of Genani biotechnology (he and his team were responsible for actress Selma Blair's successful HSCT treatment) for the FUMS Podcast Show. His quick departure from Northwestern University seems cloaked in mystery and intrigue. 🧐 I'll definitely be asking him about that! He's sending me an advanced copy of his book (click the link to learn more or to pre-order the book) so of course we'll be talking about that and his experience and thoughts on the future of HSCT - but WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE FOR HIM?? You can hit me up with your questions on any of the FUMS social platforms OR just hit reply to this email! But hurry - the interview is coming up!!2. Sooooo - yeah - now we're talking. Let's dial up the research - and the f'ing conversation - around MS and sexual dysfunction, shall we?? I did a totally unscientific survey not long ago asking people whether or not they had ever been asked about their sexual health by their neurologist. Not one person reported being approached about sexual health/dysfunction by their neurologist. So - you know what that means, right?? We have to be pro-active. BRING IT UP. There are treatments - both pharmacologic and exercise-based - that can make a significant difference. Here is a study on one such approach: Sexual Dysfunction in MS Alleviated Through Antidepressant Bupropion #normalizethetalk #talkdirtytoyourneuro #bringthatshitup3. This little gem right here ➡️ (compliments of Multiple Sclerosis News Today) Top 10 MS Stories of 2022 I take number 4 as a personal affront and number 3 as personal validation. 😉4. And this one 👉🏻 NeurologyLive® Year in Review 2022: Top Stories in Multiple Sclerosis5. Hey there my Progressive friends - this one's for you: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared AB Science to initiate a Phase 3 clinical trial of its investigational treatment masitinib in people with progressive forms of MS. FDA OKs Phase 3 Trial of Masitinib for Progressive Forms of MS6. I have gone to great lengths to personally study this next one, taking one for the team, as it were. I concur with their findings: Alcohol Consumption Is No Protection From MS Cheers. 🍷😉Hope you're doing well. Happy New Year. Warmly -- Kathy#FUMSP.S.
