Check Out Your FUMS 6-Pack 🍻

Hey - Spasticity. Spasm. UGH. Yesterday at 5:00 pm, everything on my body revolted. I had spasms in my back, neck, leg, and, of all places - my stomach! My body was dancing without me. When I looked at the weather app later in the evening, I saw that a cold front (that's a relative term when the temps are hitting 98 degrees) had arrived right about 5:00 pm - dropping the barometric pressure significantly. There it was: the reason my muscles were doing the limbo. Great. I had the why. Now I needed the STOPπŸ›‘ IT. I was in bed with coconut water (electrolytes), Celebrex, and - Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Baclofen (sung to the tune of George Thorogood's "Bad to the Bone" 🎢) by 6:00 pm. It has eased but not gone away completely. Baclofen makes me tired and loopy. Well - loopier! It's been quite a challenge to work today. So - today's FUMS 6-Pack is brought to you by sheer willpower and pharmaceuticals. Let's see how this turns out! πŸ™ƒ1. Finally - MS may actually have a benefit. Federal, state, and local governments in the U.S. (sorry international friends) offer programs to help people with disabilities like MS find affordable housing and pay for it. There are also programs to help you modify your current home.  What to Know About the Multiple Sclerosis Housing Benefit2.  Nearly one year of treatment with frexalimab, an antibody being developed by Sanofi, significantly reduced the blood levels of neurofilament light chain (NfL), a biomarker of nerve cell damage that typically is elevated in people with MS. Here's the pull quote that got my attention: "New lesions reduced by 89% with high-dose frexalimab after 3 months."  Frexalimab reduces blood NfL levels over 1 year in Phase 2 MS study3.  Where are my Lemtrada peeps?? This one's for you: Anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies show promise in multiple sclerosis after failed alemtuzumab4.  Ok, read this one carefully: the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized an investigational new drug application from Synaptogenix, clearing the company to launch a clinical trial to test whether its lead candidate bryostatin-1 can prevent cognitive decline in people with MS. PREVENT COGNITIVE DECLINE. 😳  Yes please. Sign me up. And quickly - before I forget!!!  πŸ™ƒ5.  So we all know that lesions are a result of the myelin being damaged. But - why? What causes that? WTF??  Simple little question. Big implication answer. Why Does Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Cause Brain Lesions? What You Need to Know6.  Have you tried meditating? Contrary to popular belief - you don't have to "clear your mind." That is impossible. But you can learn to redirect your thoughts back to concentrating on meditating. It's really a great way to calm and center yourself. I picture "scrubbing bubbles" scrubbing my lesions right off of my brain! I LOVE it. It can have a profound impact on your health. No, really.
