Your FUMS 6-Pack Just Got Here! ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ

Hey - It's Independence Day in the U.S. (July 4th) and that signals the start of summer to me. Cookouts, swimming, friends, and fireworks. Of course, we need to be mindful of overheating - always - but between a cooling vest, drinking cold drinks ๐Ÿบ and being in or near water, I feel confident I can manage it pretty successfully. And my daughter is returning from her study abroad program in Italy and my 2 girls are coming home!! I'm a very happy Mama. ๐ŸฅณSo - let's see what's cooking in MS this week (other than us ๐Ÿฅต)  :1.  Do you fear or embrace AI? Or are you somewhere in the middle? Maybe you haven't considered it - or you think it doesn't really affect you. Well - to you I say - buckle up buttercup. AI is here to stay and is going to be a wild ride. I'm super excited about it and here's an example of why: The Australian Government is investing $20 million to commercialize digital health research, taking it from the lab and putting it in the hands of patients and their health team, like using artificial intelligence to unlock the secrets of neurological disorders like multiple sclerosis and dementia.  Commercializing A.I. to unlock the mystery of multiple sclerosis2.  Did your parents or caregivers smoke when you were a child? Mine did. My parents loved me very much and would never do anything to hurt me. But that was years before we heard anything about secondhand smoke and its effects. Now this: Parental Smoking Increases Risk for Multiple Sclerosis, Multinational Study Shows3.  When given a specific set of chemical cues, immune cells called neutrophils can take on healing abilities that allow them to help repair damaged nerve fibers, a study by U.S. researchers found. The researchers hope to build on this discovery to create new treatments for MS and other neurological disorders that are marked by nerve damage. Immune cells can take on healing abilities to repair nerve fibers: Study4.  Telerehab. I had never heard that term - but I like it. And I like the implication - rehab - at home. Yes, please. "Our findings are promising, demonstrating that remote interventions can be both effective and satisfying for participants. Delivering therapy to individuals at home is not only convenient," Dr. Goverover noted. "It expands access to cognitive rehabilitation designed to improve how individuals function in their daily lives."  Pilot study shows promise for remote cognitive rehabilitation for multiple sclerosis patients5.  Do you deal with anxiety? A lot of us do. In fact, it is one of the most common symptoms in MS. I would argue that getting this damned diagnosis would certainly give most people AT LEAST situational anxiety.  But anxiety doesn't wear off when the shock does. It tends to stay with us. Have you ever wondered Whatโ€™s the Link Between Anxiety and Multiple Sclerosis?6.  Have you ever heard of Marburg Multiple Sclerosis?? I had not. The Marburg variant of multiple sclerosis is extremely rare but also the most severe. Life expectancy has been weeks or months, but advances in treatment have led to an improved outlook. What Is Marburg Multiple Sclerosis?
