FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack 🍻

Hello friends --How's everybody doing today? No seriously - I'd really like to know - so hit "reply" and give me a quick (or long - whatever) update on YOU. I'd LOVE to know how you're doing and what you're up to! No kidding. Here's this week's top 6 happenings in the world of MS:1. Did you know that people with disabilities are entitled to a free lifetime pass to National Parks?? Sure are! Read more here: This Disability Shit is Finally Paying Off (while not the original title, I think it's fitting)2. Here's some good info on MRI's and MS: Radiology and Multiple Sclerosis 3. I was doing some research for a coaching client (for the upcoming Patients Getting Paid course) into the Ticket to Work Program through the Social Security Administration. POINTER: when searching on anything about SSA, SSDI or SSI, make sure the URL is a ".gov" because anything else is a private business with their own private agenda. Beware!! Here's the real deal on the Ticket to Work Program if you're interested: Ticket to Work4. Hey - March is MS Awareness Month. What does that mean? Damned if I know. Well - that's not really true - but it can mean different things to different people and organizations. To me - it means an extra push to share info about MS with people within my sphere of influence. I can help them to understand what this disease is all about - and that we need some MOLA - HARD, COLD CASH MONEY to fund research and find that elusive MF'ing cure!! Do you do anything special?? Here's a link to find your local Chapter of the National MS Society. They can hook you up with local events. NMSS Near YOU 5. My friend and fellow MS'er Laura Kolaczkowski (don't even try that name) is a super smarticle (my word for a very intelligent person) with experience, connections and a way of cutting through the bullshit and extracting the truth. She's also a great writer. As such, I'm sharing an article she wrote this week about the silos that exist in the MS world. Not THOSE kind of silos. Silos of information and research that never get shared. It's a really interesting piece. And, if you're looking for something fun to do this lovely Friday night, have some wine (or cocktail of your choice) and try to say her last name!! Here's the article: Breaking Down the Silos in the MS Community6. Have you noticed that every time a new celeb "comes out" about their MS (ala Jack Osbourne, Jamie-Lyn Siegler and Selma Blair) there is a contingent within the MS world that is pissed about it?!?! It baffles me - so I wrote about it here ('cause that's what I do!): Why Celebs with MS Help Us AllSo - that's all folks. Hope you found something of interest in this week's 6-Pack. If you have other ideas of topics you'd like me to cover or people you'd like me to interview for the podcast - maybe even YOU - drop me an email and let me know at [email protected] or meet me over in the FUMS Facebook community and let's chat! Thanks.Warmly -- Kathy#FUMS
