FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack 🍻

Hello friends --Hope this finds you and yours healthy and happy. What a week! The mid-term elections here in the U.S. are behind us (thank goodness!!) and we're marching ever toward the holidays - aaaaaaaaaaaaa (that's me screaming because I'll never be ready. Oh the stress.) Glad I have my FUMS Friday Night 6 Pack to help calm my ass down!Ok - enough chitter chatter - let's get to it:
Another GREAT episode of the FUMS Podcast Show dropped this morning. It's the 25th episode (yippee) and it's a good one. I interviewed Jen Horonjeff of Savvy Cooperative, a wonderful organization that seeks to bring the patient experience and knowledge base to where it's needed most: the healthcare industry and medical practitioners. AND - bonus - YOU GET PAID for sharing your experience. That's what I'm talking about! Listen in and learn how you can get signed up and start getting "gigs" in your inbox. **Do me a favor, please? When you sign up for this wonderful platform, please tell them I sent you. Thanks so much! Here's the link: FUMS #25
Ok - this one kind of freaked me out a bit. It's research that shows antioxidants speed up tumor spread of the deadliest type of cancer - melanoma. I take antioxidants. They're supposed to be very good for us. WTF? Read it for yourself. Gulp. Melanoma Tumor Spread
Utah is trying to find a way around the stupid high prescription prices here in the U.S. To fight high drug prices, Utah will pay its public employees to fill their prescriptions in Mexico. WHAT!??! Very interesting idea. Read more here: Utah Takes a Step in the Right Direction
Depression can be a companion for #MS. Researchers have found that an existing drug can reduce depression symptoms by 45%. That's something to get excited about. Would you consider trying it?? Drug For Depression - Not New
A new way of electrically stimulating the spinal cord with wireless implants, together with therapy that supports body weight, has helped three men with paraplegia to walk again with the help of walking frames and crutches. They can even take a few steps without any aids at all. That's hopeful - and we can all use a little hopeful. Here's the story: Spinal Stim
It's always controversial and everyone seems to have an opinion on it - so I'll add one more. Here's a great piece about the flu shot and how to protect yourself if you opt not to get the flu shot this year - by excellent writer and fellow MS warrior Ed Tobias: What If You Don't Want It?
So that's all folks. Hope this has provided you with good, useful, interesting information. I'll be seeing you again next week when I deliver another 6-Pack to your inbox! In the meantime, meet me over in the FUMS Facebook community and let's chat! Thanks.
Warmly -- Kathy#FUMS
