Oct 5 FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack

FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack

Hello friends --It's the first Friday of October - can you believe it? Time is picking up speed!  I like that the weather is starting to change here - the heat and humidity are slipping away - and soon I'll be able to wear a sweater and have a bonfire and make chili and watch the leaves turn beautiful colors. Can you tell Fall is my favorite time of the year??  Hope it's nice where you are too!Let's get to it, shall we? Here's your FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack - delivered with a smile!

  1. Jack Osbourne (Ozzy's son) did a great video about 150 years of history of MS. It's quite entertaining! Here's a link to that video: You Don't Know Jack

  2. HSCT seems to be the most consistently successful type of stem cell therapy of all of them. Wiping out the existing immune system with chemotherapy then reintroducing your own cells and allowing them to flourish and replace the old. I'm hoping to interview someone who went through this for the podcast soon. Here's an interesting article about it: HSCT in Canadian Study

  3. The risk of kidney deterioration due to MS bladder dysfunction is LOW!! YAY. Finally some good news! And btw, if you experience bowel and/or bladder dysfunction thanks to MS - my co-author and I wrote a downloadable ebook just for you. Find it here: www.FUMSnow.com/ebook.  Here's an article featuring the good news of the low risk of kidney deterioration: Low Risk of Kidney Deterioration in MS

  4. In the WTF column, we find this story - about U.S. government prosecutors looking into whether some pharmaceutical companies’ patient assistance programs are on the wrong side of the law. Trying to breathe right now. Here's the article: Patient Assistance Programs

  5. Genetic variants were found to potentially shape the disease course of MS, and may be used as biomarkers to identify those with an aggressive or benign type of disease, a DNA sequencing study shows. Read more here: Genetic Variants

  6. Do you listen to the FUMS Podcast Show? It's a great way to get information, inspiration, and motivation for living your best life with MS. Next week's episode is all about finding LEGIT work-from-home/remote/virtual gigs that can be done around YOUR schedule (think doctor's appts, infusions, etc).  If you do listen and would be so kind as to provide an honest Apple Podcasts/iTunes rating and a review for the show - I'd so appreciate it. I've attached a walkthrough on how to do it. It's easy and - no joke - it won't take more than 5 minutes - promise. And it would help the show - and me - so much. Thanks in advance. Here's how to do it: Rating and Review

That's a wrap. Hope you enjoyed this week's FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack. Have a great weekend!  Warmly -- Kathy
