FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack 🍺

Hello friends --Happy Friday!! Is it feeling like Fall (whatever that means for you) where you are? Because it is NOT here in southern Virginia - and I'm pissed off about it. I LOVE Fall. It's my favorite season. I love the changing color of the leaves, I love the sweaters, I love Pumpkin Spice everything, I love making Chili, etc. All the Fally things. But it's been in the 90's all week and it's seriously pissing me off. Not a lot I can do about it. I'll just turn up the A/C and pretend! So - what's been going on in the world of MS this week you ask. Glad you asked. Here you go:1.  I just published a brand new podcast interview with the delightful Caroline Craven of GirlWithMS.com.  She always brings interesting topics and new products for us - and this time is no exception. We're talking about Aging and MS - and since I've been diagnosed with both of those things, I found it very interesting. Hope you will too. Check it out: Aging and MS2.  MS and constipation go together like peas and carrot, peanut butter and jelly, Abbott and Costello (way back machine). Why is that and what can you do about it? Read this article and learn more: MS and Constipation.  Which reminds me: did you know I co-wrote (really just added the smart ass comments) a downloadable ebook all about this sort of unsavory subject? Yep - it's called Bowel and Bladder Issues in Multiple Sclerosis by Two Pee Brains with Potty Mouths Talking Shit About MS. Seriously - that's the name. I linked the title to the ebook so if you're interested in learning more or purchasing it, just click the title and you'll be brought right to it. Enjoy!  3.  COG FOG - HATE IT. It comes out of nowhere - often at THE most inopportune moments. I usually say something like "I need more coffee" and try to laugh it off. How do YOU handle it. EMBARASSING. UGH. Hate it. Cog Fog - How To Deal With This Frequent MS Symptom4.  Because of the critical role the brain plays in multiple sclerosis (MS), many experts are placing a heavy emphasis on what can be done to keep the brain as healthy as possible, for as long as possible. This new focus on brain health is part of a larger perspective called brain preservation, and it has both experts and people living with MS talking. Brain Preservation5.  Shut the front door. This seems mighty exciting. A type 2 diabetes drug can repair nerve damage caused by multiple sclerosis (MS), according to trials on rats. Results described as 'spectacular' showed the rats' damaged myelin made an almost complete recovery after three weeks on metformin. Read more here: Reversing Nerve Damage6.  On November 1st, I'll publish my 50th podcast episode. I want to hear as many of YOUR voices in it as possible. If you would PLEASE, just record a message - 30 seconds - on your phone's voice memo - maybe talking about a favorite FUMS pod episode or some other way that FUMS has helped you and a wish for the future of FUMS and then send it to me at [email protected]. Be sure to say your name and where you're from right at the beginning too. I need to have all of those by 10/15 - by why wait? Do it RIGHT NOW so you don't forget. AND - I'M GIVING AWAY A $50 VISA GIFT CARD on Nov 1st  - to celebrate the 50th episode. I'm calling it the "Share Your Mugshot" contest. Grab an FUMS mug at the FUMS Merch Shop and post a picture of yourself holding it in the comments section of the Mugshots post pinned to the top of the page on the FUMS Facebook page. I'll announce the winner LIVE on Facebook on 11/1. That's all folks. Hope you found some value in this week's FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack. If there's anything I can do for you, please hit reply to this email or meet me over in the FUMS Facebook community and let's chat!  Thanks.Warmly -- Kathy#FUMS
