The FUMS 6 Pack 🍺🍻🍺🍻

Hello friends --How's things? It is still MUCH cooler here than it's been so I'm loving every second of it.  I went for 2 walks yesterday.  Well - 1 real walk in the morning by myself, and I attempted a walk with my dog Snickers last night. She is such a piece of work.  We made it to the end of our block this time before she put the brakes on.  I don't know why I think she's going to magically enjoy walks every time I try it with her again. She does not.  So - I end up picking her up and walking home.  Well - I guess it's then a weighted walk - and surely there are health benefits to that, right??Ok - let's see what's going on in MS this week:1.  FUMS Podcast repeat guest Dr. Terry Wahls reached out to me via email this week and asked if I would put a blog post up on the FUMS website. Ummm - yeah, sure will.  What an honor, that she reaches out to be on the show and to have something put on my blog.  More than I could have imagined when I started out in 2011!!  Here's a link to that article:  Get In On Her Study2.  The first symptoms of RRMS have been appearing increasingly later in life, according to a Spanish study covering nearly five decades. From the 1970s through the 2010s, the average age at disease onset rose by more than 10 years in both men and women, its researchers reported.  Weird, right??  Mine was dx'ed at age 43.  How about YOU??  Here's a link to that study:  RRMS Onset Taking Place at Ever Older Ages Last 50 Years3.  Uncontrolled laughing or crying is a symptom of MS - did you know that?? It's called Pseudobulbar Affect (PBA) and they've found that early detection can help.  Early Detection of Pseudobulbar Affect May Help Ease MS Symptom4.  Great news for those of us that need to stay inside when it's hot, for instance - or just enjoy "exergaming" more than exercising.  Exergaming May Be Better Than Other Exercises5.  The very definition of toxic masculinity - Study: Men concerned about 'weakness' may not seek medical help.  Ideals on Masculinity May Guide Health Behaviors in Men With MS6.  And finally, in the good news department, Multiple Sclerosis Disease Activity in Patients Not Exacerbated by COVID-19Alrighty then - that's it.  Hope you gained some knowledge, perspective or a giggle - or - all of the above!  Warmly -- Kathy#FUMSP.S.  Interested in learning about my membership community that helps people with chronic illness learn how to find and create flexible, remote work that both accommodates our health AND generates an income??  Check it out right here:  Patients Getting Paid.    **There's a price increase on the horizon.  Good time to jump down off that fence you may have been sitting on . . . .

Sometimes it helps the stress, just to say "F-U-M-S"
