[Re-sent] August 23 FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack

FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack 🍺

Hello friends --What a week. Let me start by thanking so many of you that sent me messages telling me to take some time off, to not do the FN6P this week, to get some rest - and sharing with me what FUMS has meant to you over the years. I literally cried reading those messages. I LOVE this community. There is so much support, kindness and caring. Thank you for extending that to me as well.OK - enough of that sappy stuff. Let's get on with it:1. The latest FUMS Podcast episode was published today and it's a good one (I think they're all good, but that's just me). My guest this week is Ivy Larson, MS'er and author of Clean Cuisine (among others), a cookbook concentrating on anti-inflammatory, nutrient-dense whole food ingredients. Hear Ivy's MS diagnosis story and her journey to finding the diet and exercise (and medical marijuana) that has allowed her to be medication- and progression-free for 20+ years!! You read that right. AND - she has a gift for the FUMS community - a chance to win a cookbook and an exercise DVD. Listen here: Clean Cuisine2.  We've all noticed it - like it or not - we do feel better when we get some sort of exercise. Our mood is lifted, our pain is lessened, we sleep better. We noticed it - but we didn't really know why. Now, there's a new study that finds that the body's endocannabinoid system may play a role. Interesting stuff: Exercise as a Mood Booster3. I HATED getting my Lumbar Puncture/Spinal Tap. Hated it. The doctor hit a nerve in my leg and I had a headache for 3 days. Hated it. I never really understood the role it played in diagnosing MS. The wonderful Tamara Sellman clarifies it - as she does with so many complex medical terms. Here you go: Spinal Tap for DX4. OK peeps - we've got to get on this: eating more fruits and veggies. Here's why:  More Fruits and Vegetables and Less Gluten Good for MS Patients.5. Did you see we "welcomed" another high profile person to our ranks??  Yep - Former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt diagnosed with multiple sclerosis6.  Despite its prevalence, scientists do not know why some people develop chronic pain. A new study approaches this question from all angles, exploring the role of money and the mind. #FUCP (chronic pain!)  Read all about it here: Chronic pain research: Linking psychology, sociology, and neuroscienceThat's all folks. Hope you find this resource helpful. Is there anything that I can help you withDrop me an email and let me know at [email protected] or meet me over in the FUMS Facebook community and let's chat!  Thanks.Warmly -- Kathy#FUMS
