FUMS Friday Night 6-Pack 🍻

Hello friends --Happy Friday!! Unfortunately, my 2019 shit show continues. I don't know what I did to piss off the Universe but seriously, it feels like everything I touch has turned to shit thus far. I am confident that this too shall pass, but until it does, there is wine. Thank god there is wine. Enough of my whining (wine-ing) - let's see what interesting stuff happened in the MS world this week:1. I just hit "publish" today on the latest FUMS Podcast Show episode - and it's a really good one! I interviewed Tamara Sellman, a board-certified sleep technologist and sleep educator - AND - she has MS too! We had a GREAT conversation about all things sleep related. It was so interesting I forgot we were recording! Seriously - I learned a lot in this one - and you will too. She has a lot of tips and tricks to offer if you have trouble sleeping too. Here you go: The Science of Sleep & MS2. I've said for a long time now that I believe our answers lie in stem cell research and stem cell therapy. There has been an encouraging study released this week and the future of HSCT looks bright!! Stem Cell Therapy3. Under the heading of "No Shit Sherlock" comes this enlightening survey: "Controlling Spasticity Would Greatly Improve Quality of Life"4. Is anyone here on LDN (low dose Naltrexone)? When I was first diagnosed someone suggested I look into it. I asked my doctor about it and he said it did nothing. There is a whole community of MS'ers that use it that would disagree. Here's a study that shows no serious side effects. I just finished an interview with the founder of the LDN Research Trust in England. I can't wait to release that one. I think everyone will find it VERY interesting - a drug that is CHEAP, very low dose, can be taken with other drugs and can make them more effective and has no serious side effects? Yes, please. Read more here: Low Dose Naltrexone5. In the small but mighty department, researchers have identified a molecule that could delay the damage that multiple sclerosis inflicts in the brain and other parts of the central nervous system. I'll take it. Here's more info: Molecule That Could Delay MS Onset6. Winter is a real ass-kicker for some MS'ers - are you one?? Here is a guide for dealing with cold weather when you have MS: Cold Weather & MSSo - that's all folks. Hope you're getting value from this weekly newsletter. If so, please share it with other MS'ers and encourage them to subscribe to it themselves at www.FUMSnow.com/GetTheScoop. Also - suggest they subscribe to the FUMS Podcast Show too at www.FUMSnow.com/podcast. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, drop me an email at [email protected] or meet me over in the FUMS Facebook community and let's chat! Thanks.Warmly -- Kathy#FUMS
