The FUMS 6-Pack 🍻🍻🍻

Hello friends --It's THAT time of year again - the 'tweener.  It's beTWEEN summer and fall. It's still too hot to sit outside - but the temps are starting to decline a bit.  I LOVE FALL.  I just can't wait.  BUT - it is a 'ber month now (SeptemBER) so - I'm starting to feel happier.  How are YOU feeling these days??OK - let's get into it:1.  Are you familiar with the name Lydia Emily??  Lydia Emily Archibald is an artist to her core. She was born in Chicago to globe-trotting activist parents, and this laid the foundation for her socially-conscious and politically-motivated artworks, including the creation of large-scale murals. Lydia Emily’s work has been featured at gallery shows in Milan, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Washington DC, and San Francisco.

After battling cancer, Lydia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012. WHAT!?!?!

Lydia Emily is the subject of the recent documentary The Art of Rebellion, a feature-length film from Bluprint Films directed by Libby Spears. I think she is an amazing person, living an amazing life, and I’m sure you’ll agree.  I got to interview her and it was one of the great honors of my life.  Listen right here (or anywhere you get your podcasts):  The Art of Rebellion & Lydia Emily

2.  We've all heard of the JC Virus - but do you know what JC stands for? How about what it actually is and how to treat it?  Well - here you go:  An Overview of the JC Virus3.  Doctors typically prescribe medications to help manage symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS), but a veteran nonprofit focuses on a little-known, much-overlooked part of treatment: therapeutic adventuring.  Don't you LOVE that term??  First Descents Prescribes Good Medicine From the Great Outdoors4.  Combining blood and imaging biomarkers might help clinicians better predict cognitive impairment in people with early multiple sclerosis (MS) than using either one alone, a new study suggests.  Combining Biomarkers May Help to Predict Cognitive Impairment in MS5.  Where are my Ocrevus folks??  Listen up: get to your infusions on time.  Every damned time.  If at all possible. Because - this:  "An interval of one month or longer was associated with a 5X higher risk of new or enlarging lesions"  Delayed Ocrevus Infusion May Increase MRI-based RRMS Risk6.    I was truly honored to be the very first guest on the "A Couple Takes On MS" Podcast! That couple is Dan & Jennifer Digmann - and they are some of my favorite people in this world!  AND - they were MY first interview on the FUMS podcast WAY back in 2015!!  Turnabout is fair play!!  Here's the episode:  Taking on MS with Kathy Reagan YoungWell - that's all folks.  Hope this was helpful.  Warmly -- Kathy#FUMSP.S.  I'm thinking about offering a version of this newsletter where I read the articles - maybe on my FUMSvideos YouTube channel.  Would that be of interest to any of you??  Please let me know.  Just hit reply to this email and let me know please.  Thanks so much.

Sometimes it helps the stress, just to say "F-U-M-S"
