Hey there,
As I’m writing this, I’m looking out the window at a bright, sunshiny day 🌞 (click the link for a little treat). I see freshly popped Daffodils, and buds on the trees. And I’m L🧡VING the later sunsets. Spring feels like it has sprung in Virginia Beach!🌷🐣 I feel “lighter” and “uplifted” at this time of year. Do you? I hope so - and I hope you’re enjoying some lovely spring weather as well. A bit early for some of you I know (shout out to my Minnesota family reading this right now 🥶) but hang in there - it’s coming your way soon too! 🥰
Let's see what's up in the world of MS, shall we??
I had just talked with my neurologist about potentially stopping my MS meds.
My MS had been stable for a couple of years and I was getting um, ahem, older. And then BAM!! 🧨 My annual MRI showed a new lesion and 2 of my old friends that were growing. WHAT!?!?! 😳 😡 🤬 “In people with MS, lesions that get slowly bigger over time, potentially due to chronic inflammation, are associated with more myelin loss throughout the brain, a study found.” Damn it. It does explain a few things though! 🙃 Slowly expanding MS lesions linked to myelin damage in brain
What comes to mind when I say “personalized medicine”? I think of my care partners really hearing and seeing ME and prescribing medications and therapies based on that. Sounds good, right?? We’re getting there. Here’s a quick, 5-minute video talking about the evolving landscape of MS treatment: Personalized Medicine and Biomarker Innovations in Multiple Sclerosis Treatment: Enrique Alvarez, MD, PhD
“Progression independent of relapse activity, or PIRA, in the earliest stages of RRMS is associated with worsening quality of life, a study in Sweden shows.” I just re-read that sentence. Um - yeah! 🙃 PIRA linked to worse quality of life in early RRMS patients

Fatty fish have previously been linked with lower levels of MS disability, and a recent study adds further support to the benefits of fish consumption when it comes to living with MS, a disease that attacks the central nervous system. *If less MS is your wish - cast a line 🎣 and eat some fish!! 🧡 Eating More Fish May Slow MS Disability Progression
